Choosing a New Path

Updated: Feb 5

Acupuncture is a second career for me.

Before this, I spent many years in a profession that offered stability and valuable lessons I still carry with me today. It was a chapter that supported me in important ways, and I’m deeply grateful for what it gave me.

After an illness and a period of leave, I found myself at a natural pause point. It created space for reflection and for listening more closely to what I needed moving forward.

In my early twenties, while living on the West Coast, I received acupuncture at a student clinic. I remember feeling really drawn to the medicine and to the way it worked with the whole person. At the time, life took me in another direction, but that experience stayed with me. Over the years, I would often say that if I ever won the lottery, I’d go back to school to study acupuncture.

During that period of reflection, the pull toward this path became clearer and steadier. In time, I chose to follow it. I applied to the acupuncture program, was accepted and stepped into a new chapter.

Today, I feel so incredibly grateful to be doing work that feels meaningful and aligned. Choosing acupuncture wasn’t about leaving anything behind, but about following something that had been quietly waiting for me.

In a way, I did win the lottery. Not in the traditional sense (yet), but in a way that has nothing to do with money. It was about finding the courage to begin again, the perseverance to keep going and the willingness, and trust it takes to follow a path that feels right, even in (especially in) times of uncertainty.

If any part of this feels familiar, acupuncture can offer quiet support during times of change. You’re always welcome to get in touch or book a session if you’re curious.
